Well now that the introductions are over I suppose I should start on a proper post.
Last Week
Last week I was particularly lazy. I only managed to motivate myself for one run during the week and that one turn out to be a personal worst time. Even more depressingly, despite getting ready I bailed on cycling at the weekend because of a few splats of rain. I’m sure I could bore every one with my excuses but needless to say last week just wasn’t working for me.
So then! That was last week and this week I can start a fresh.
The Plan
Okay the plan for this week is as follows:
Monday 5k run
Tuesday 1hr at the Velodrome
Thursday 5k run
Sat or Sun 20 mile cycle around Windsor
Each Night a set of crunches and push-ups
The Targets
- So I have planned what I hope to be as a fairly easy week. A week which looking forward would be one that I will use to maintain a set level of fitness. I figure, following a series of bad weeks I need to ease myself back into a regimented training regime.
- 5K run – I aim to complete each of the 5K runs in a time of around 20mins
- The trip at the Velodrome – I find hard this activity measure as I treat as interval training but from looking at past experience I normally manage to complete around 18 miles within the hour.
- The 20 mile cycle – this I normally manage in about 1 hour 17ish so I would aim to match that time this week.
- Crunches and push-ups – since breaking my collar-bone in the summer I have not attempted any at all. Therefore, I shall play this one as it comes but hopefully I can use this week to create targets for the following weeks.
Other Tasks for the Week
I think it would be quite useful to have a page on the website which displays a calendar showing each of my training sessions. This will help me track my progress and let you see how hard or lazy I have been. I will investigate if I this is possible within the limitations of WordPress.
In a similar vein I would like to have a gallery of my sporting pictures so I will play around with the best way of achieving this.
After each training session I will make notes on how it went so I can provide a proper analysis at the end of the week.
I shall start to draft up a post introducing everyone to some of the training routes I use.
So I shall sign off for now but I’ll report back at the end of the week and tell you all how it went.
